About Browns Point

Browns Point, is a part of the Town of Pictou is located just west of the north end of the Pictou Causeway. This area is where the ship Hector, the first ship from Scotland landed in 1773.

Brown Point was named after an early settler, John Brown. It was a popular place with many cottages along the water.

It was also once the location of the end of a large railway crossing that crossed from Loch Broom over to Pictou. The railway station was town down about 1958, but the bridge remained for many years later. The bridge was eventually destroyed in a fire in 1993.

The Trans Canada Trail goes through this area.
