Big Bog is one of the most significant ecologically rich wetlands found in Pictou County, stretching east of Dufferin Road and extending across the communities of Sundridge, Heathbell, Meadowville, and Scotch Hill.
This defining terrain feature in the county’s interior landscape, id both ecologically and geographically important for its hydrology, and biodiversity, and continues to play a vital role in the landscape.
The community of Scotch Hill is located west of Browns Point. The place was also once known as Scots Hill and was probably so named because a number of the first settlers were Scottish.
