Rockfield is a small rural community located south of Scotsburn and west of Durham. The name was given by an Act of Parliament in 1885, and prior to that was known as the settlement of Auclein Caim.

The rural community of Durham is located west of Sylvester. It was named after the Earl of Durham (Governor-General of of British North America) in 1838., and was previously known as West River.

Loch Broom - Pictou County

Loch Broom

Loch Broom is a rural community located directly between the Middle River and the West River. It was first settled by Alexander Cameron (who came on the ship Hector) in 1773 and named for its harbour’s approach resembling Loch Broom in Inverness-shire, Scotland. It is believed that one of the first churches in Pictou County was built here in 1787.
