Bobs Meadow is a large open, flat, gently sloping swampy area in the community of East Branch. It is a large, open, gently sloping meadow with swampy characteristics. Water from this area flows west into River John. Meadows like this were vital to rural communities, providing pastureland and hayfields that supported subsistence farming and livestock raising.
Lyons Brook is a small tributary that starts flowing north of Hardwood Hill and south of Scotch Hill, and flows east through the community of Lyons Brook, and then empties into the West River.
College Grant is a small rural community located next to the Pictou County and Colchester County boundary line, and west of East Branch along College Grant Road.
The community of Granton is located on the east side of the Middle River between Mount William and Sylvester. It was named after a seaport in, Scotland. Granton is home to a Michelin a tire production facility and a SPCA animal shelter.
