Louisville is a rural community located close to the Colchester / Pictou county line, south of River John along the Louisville Road. In 1812, Lewis Langille, Lewis Tatterie, Peter Mattatal, Hugh Munroe and Alexander Smith applied for land in this area.
The 1879 River John Map (Section 4) is one of the several maps included in the 1879 Historical Atlas of Pictou County. It shows the basic topographic features of the community along with with prominent land owners and locations of buildings.
