1867 Pictou Harbour Map

This hand drawn 1867 Pictou Harbour map features bearings and distances between various landmarks (and public wharfs) around the harbour. The map is created with South pointing to the top of the map (unlike most traditionally maps that have north up). Thus, as you view the map you are actually situated around the center of the Town of Pictou.

Abercrombie

Abercrombie is a rural community about 2630 hectares in size, located east of the communities of Granton and Mount William, and north of the Town of New Glasgow, with the East River flowing along to the east, and the Middle River of Pictou flowing along the north west part of the community.  It was named after General James Abercrombie, a British General with the 42nd or the first battalion of Royal Highlanders.
