Cantley Point is located on the East River of Pictou, around where the Nova Scotia Power Plant and the Trenton Steel Works, near Greens Point. It is one of several officially named terrain features along the river that have both geographic and cultural significance.

The name Cantley is associated with Thomas Cantley (1857-1945), a notable figure from New Glasgow, who was a steel manufacturer, Member of Parliament, and Senator.
