West Barneys River
West Barneys River a major branch of Barneys River. It originates in the Indian Lake area and then flows north through the communities of Marsh, Laggan, Upper Barneys River, Kenzieville, Barneys River Station, and Avondale.

Barneys River
Barneys River was named after Barnabas McGee, one of the early settlers who landed here in the late 1770s. The mouth of Barneys River was a major Mi’kmaq camping ground, known as Kaqpese’kaqnk (“At the smelt fishing place”). It is a fresh water river that flows south through upland interiors of the communities of Avondale, Kenzieville, Marshy Hope, Piedmont and Lower Barneys River and then empties into Merigomish Harbour.
Vameys Brook
Vameys Brook is a small fresh water tributary that originates from Vameys Lake in the community of Baileys Brook. It then flows north through the communities of Ardness and Lismore before eventually emptying into the Northumberland Strait.
Little River
Little River is a channel within the East River of Pictou located around the Plymouth and Stellarton area of the river.
Cross Brook
Cross Brook is a fresh water stream that originates in an area south of Sunny Brae (north east of Beaver Lake) and flows south into West River St. Mary’s near Caledonia (Guysborough County).

North Nelson River is a fresh water a tributary located in Trafalgar that flows south into the Nelson River. It was once known as North Branch Nelson River.
Chance Harbour Lake
Chance Harbour Lake is a small fresh water body of water located south of the Pictou Landing Road in the coastal community of Chance Harbour.
Three Brooks
Three Brooks is a rural community located south of Waterside along the west side of Caribou Harbour. The name refers to the three small brooks that enter the harbour in close proximity, a natural feature that early settlers used as a geographic reference point.
