MacKay Brook Nature Reserve, located in the community of Elmfield. It is a provincially designated protected area preserving one of the few remaining remnant blocks of old hemlock, spruce and mixed hardwood forest within the heavily fragmented Northumberland Strait Plain, an area historically shaped by forestry, agriculture, and rural settlement.
