Moose River

Moose River is a rural community located along NS Route 347 (Sherbrooke Road) north east of Blue Mountain and north west of Garden of Eden. The name is descriptive. Thomas Fraser appears was the first settler here in 1818. Donald Campbell emigrated from Inverness-shire, in 1821, and received his grant in 1828.

Watervale - Pictou County

Watervale

Watervale is a rural area located along the West River, south east of Lower Mount Thom and west of New Gairloch. The name of the place is considered to be chosen for descriptive reasons. William Cameron emigrated from Inverness-shire and settled here sometime around 1801. In 1877 a factory for manufacturing rakes, implements, and furniture was operated by Samuel Archibald & Company in the area.
