Rogers - Pictou County

Rogers

Rogers is located south east of the mouth of River John. It was named after the Rogers family whose land was surveyed but not yet improved in 1822. They received a grant in 1824. Donald Cameron, and Donald Cameron Jr., and Roderick Johnson received grants of land here in 1828.

Lovat - Pictou County

Lovat

Lovat is a rural community located south east of Salt Springs between the Middle and West Rivers. It was named after a place in Inverness, Scotland, (the seat of the Fraser clan).

Donald Cameron and John McKenzie settled here in 1810. Grants of land were made to Roderick McKenzie in 1813, to John McKay in 1814, to  James Fraser in 1815 and to Hector McKenzie in 1815.

Frasers Mountain - Pictou County

Frasers Mountain

Frasers Mountain is a rural community located north east of New Glasgow. Settlers Archibald McKay and Donald Cameron settled here about 1801. A lot was granted to Isaac Wharing in 1789.

Broadway - Pctou County

Broadway

Broadway is a rural community located along NS Highway 4 between French River and Kenzieville.  It may have been so named after a famous street in New York City or because it was located along the main thoroughfare (at the time) between New Glasgow and Antigonish or after a village in England.
