Blanchard Brook is a small low order tributary in the East River watershed. It originates in upland areas near Blanchard Road area flows south through mixed forest and rural parcels in the community of Sunny Brae and empties into the East River.
The brook’s flow regime is typical of small Nova Scotia streams, seasonal high flows in spring and after heavy rain, lower baseflows in late summer, and it contributes to local wetland and riparian habitats. The brook and nearby community of Blanchard Road are named after Colonel Blanchard of Truro who cut a road through the area to access land holdings in the area.
