Baileys Brook

Baileys Brook is a rural community located south of the Ponds. The area was once referred to as Upper Bailey’s Brook named after John Baillie, a disbanded soldier from the 82nd Regiment, who settled at the mouth of Bailey’s Brook about 1788. The area was so named before 1809 and at the time the spelling was “Ballies Brook.” The spelling for the name of the community actually changed a few times over the years (Baillie Brook, Bailey Brook, Bailey’s Brook  and now Baileys Brook).
