Jim Camerons Meadow is a located in the communities of East River Saint Mary’s and Black Brook, near the south east corner of Pictou County near the county boundaries shared with Antigonish and Guysborough Counties. It is recognized as a meadow landscape, valued for its open character and its place in local geographic history.
Knoydart is a rural coastal community located along NS route 245 (Sunrise Trail ) between Lismore and the eastern boundary between Pictou and Antigonish Counties. It was named after a place in Inverness-shire, Scotland.
French River is a rural community located along the French River, west of Broadway. Prior to 1763 there was a French settlement at the mouth of the river in this area and that is why both the river and the community were named so.
Broadway is a rural community located along NS Highway 4 between French River and Kenzieville. It may have been so named after a famous street in New York City or because it was located along the main thoroughfare (at the time) between New Glasgow and Antigonish or after a village in England.
