Abercrombie

Abercrombie is a rural community about 2630 hectares in size, located east of the communities of Granton and Mount William, and north of the Town of New Glasgow, with the East River flowing along to the east, and the Middle River of Pictou flowing along the north west part of the community.  It was named after General James Abercrombie, a British General with the 42nd or the first battalion of Royal Highlanders.

Dunbar Point is a small but historically rich geographic feature in located in the community of Abercrombie, adjacent to The Loading Ground.  Named for early settler Robert Dunbar and tied to the 19th‑century General Mining Association Railway, it stands as a reminder of both the Scottish settlement era and the industrial heritage of the East River corridor.
