Forbes Point
Forbes Point is located on the north east shores of of Cape John between Robinsons Point and Johnsons Point in the community of Melville.

Murphy Point
Murphy Point is a small headland on the eastern side of John Bay, marking part of the rugged shoreline that defines this historic fishing community. The point takes its name from early settlers of the Murphy family, whose presence in the Cape John area is reflected not only in the point itself but also in nearby Murphy Road, which leads toward the shoreline.
Salisbury Point
Salisbury Point is a small significant headland on the Cape John peninsula located located south of Archibalds Point along the shores of John Bay in the community of Cape John.
This region was originally referred to as Back Shore due to its geographic location in relation to the village of River John, and also Wenjooteamwakade (meaning the cow pasture) by the Mi’kmaq.
Archibalds Point
Archibalds Point a scenic point or cape located between Reef Point and Salisbury Point along the shores of John Bay in the community of Cape John. It was previously known as Sandies Point until an official name change in 1976, and the water between here and Reef Point was previously named Hithon Bight.

Shag Rocks
Shag Rocks is a striking coastal rocky outcrop that protrudes from the water located just near the tip of Cape John, known for its rugged geology and maritime character. The name reflects the seabirds—particularly cormorants, locally called “shags”—that frequently roost on the rocks, leaving them white-streaked and visible from a distance. Historically, Shag Rocks would have been a familiar reference point for local fishers navigating the waters off Cape John, where shoals and reefs demanded careful seamanship.
Angel Point
Angel Point is a small headland in Marshville, extending northward into Amet Sound along the Northumberland Strait. It is a mapped coastal feature that helps define the eastern side of the Marshville shoreline, lying just east of Rocky Point. The point itself is a modest projection compared to larger capes, but it plays a role in shaping the sheltered waters of Amet Sound, which has long been valued for its warm, shallow waters and safe anchorages. It’s rocky shoreline provides habitat for intertidal species and serves as a vantage point for observing birdlife and fishing activity in the Strait.
Cape John
Cape John is a rural community that is located along the north side of John Bay. To mariners the Cape is considered to be Pictou County’s western boundary. The name Cape John also refers to the Cape (a prominent geographical feature characterized by a narrow piece of land that extends into a body of water, typically the sea or ocean) located within the community of Cape John.
The Mi’kMaq referred to the area as “Wenjooteamwakade” meaning the cow pasture. A protected harbour in the community backed by a man-made breakwater helps shelter and support both small fishing vessels and recreational crafts. A lobster focused fish processing plant also underpin the local economy.
