Black Point

Black Point is a rocky headland located west of Hawksbill Point on the north side of Caribou Island extending out into the Northumberland Strait. It was formerly known as Barebank Point, as well as Johns Point, but officially changed to the current version in 1976.

Black Point is a common name and thus there a few other places in Pictou County that go by the same name, including a community, and another rocky headland.

Anderson Mountain

Anderson Mountain is a modestly elevated peak at 100 meters situated in the community of Anderson Mountain. The prominence of Anderson Mountain is 35m/115ft., by elevation it ranks 23rd in Pictou County, 15th for prominence. Prominence highlights independent mountains and high points, while elevation alone does not distinguish free-standing peaks from sub-peaks on a larger massif. Both metrics are useful for categorizing and describing mountains.

Island East River

The Island East River is a rural community in Pictou County located along the east River, west of Springville and east of Hopewell.  The name was derived from the fact that it was the eastern shore of an inland island formed by the two branches of the east River, a lake and brooks.
