Parks Falls is located just north of the Park Falls Road, where Cameron Brook connects to Sutherlands River in the community of McPhersons Mills. The Canadian Geographical Names Database (CGNDB) has the official named published as Parks Falls, but most local references do not include the s in the name, and call it Park Falls.

Starting between Big Merigomish Island and Kings Head, the harbour extends several kilometres inland, branching into a maze of coves, tidal channels, and small islands such as the Pig Islands and French Channel.
It is located within several Pictou County communities including Big Island, Merigomish, Lower Barneys River, Kings Head, Egerton, Sutherlands River, and Woodburn and feeds into the Northumberland Strait. Pine Tree Brook is a small tributary that starts in the Linacy area and flows east through the communities of Pine Tree and Woodburn, and then empties into Pine Tree Gut.
Pine Tree Gut is located between the communities of Pine Tree and Sutherlands River, on the south side of Quarry Island, where Pine Tree Brook empties into Merigomish Harbour.
