About Three Brooks
Three Brooks is a rural community located south of Waterside along the west side of Caribou Harbour. The name refers to the three small brooks that enter the harbour in close proximity, a natural feature that early settlers used as a geographic reference point.
Land was granted to Mrs. Jane Cochrane of Halifax in 1809, the trustees of Philip Marchington in 1811, and Thomas Mooring, Laughlin Campbell and Thomas Harris in 1815.
A new school was built in 1885. Another new school was later built in 1952.
Population in 1956 was 146.
The name also refers to a small coastal feature in the community of Three Brooks that opens up into Caribou Harbour. Fresh water enters Three Brooks through Sheriff Brook, and two other un-named brooks..
