About Sutherland Islands
Sutherland Islands, refers to a few small coastal islands located in Merigomish Harbour, just north of Indian Island, between Quarry Island and Olding Island. They are low lying, tidal in character, and typically composed of rocky outcrops, small pebble or shell beaches, and adjacent mudflats exposed at low water. Its modest elevation and its proximity to other small islands in the sheltered harbour make them part of a dynamic intertidal landscape used by shorebirds and local marine life.
