About Savage Point
Savage Point is a low, sandy headland on the southern shore of Big Merigomish Island, extending into the sheltered waters of Merigomish Harbour. It is located across from Point Betty, and helps protect nearby Savage Cove.
The point was named for a Captain Savage of Truro, who died here, his vessel, the Betty, is said to have grounded nearby here as well, and perhaps leaded to naming of the nearby Point Betty.
