About Round Lake

The first Round Lake lies south of Eden Lake in Rocky Mountain. Its in a forested interior landscape, typical of small kettle lakes formed in glacial terrain. The surrounding area is characterized by mixed woodland and small streams, making it a quiet, secluded water body with ecological value for wildlife habitat.

A second Round Lake is located further west, near Elbow Lake. Its position places it closer to settled farmland and historic land grant boundaries, which were often defined by nearby lakes and streams. Today, it remains a small but notable feature within the county’s inland geography.

The third Round Lake lies toward the  western side of Pictou County, near the boundary with Colchester in the Sheepherders Junction area. This lake is slightly larger and more accessible, appearing in provincial lake inventories used for recreational fishing and ecological monitoring. Its rounded shape and relatively open shoreline make it a natural landmark, and like the other two, it contributes to the county’s hydrological network draining toward the Northumberland Strait.
