About Ram Island
Ram Island, is a small island located along the south side of Caribou Island near Mackenzie Point. It was formerly known as Mackenzie Island, until an official name change in 1970. Over time, it has been connected to the main island via a large spit.
The 1864 map shows it as Mackenzie Island, while the 1879 map does show the island labeled as Ram Island, so it is possible that the name was changed well before it was officially adopted into the Canadian Geographical Names Database.
