Powells Point Provincial Park, nestled in the community of Little Harbour is one of Pictou County’s hidden gems; a quiet, scenic day use park known for its warm water, easy shoreline access, and a relaxed natural environment. Its landscape blends sandy beach on one side and rocky shoreline on the other, offering visitors a choice between sunbathing, beachcombing, or exploring tide‑washed stones and driftwood.
A short trail leads through a field and into a forested area, eventually connecting to the shoreline. This easy, family‑friendly walk offers views of the Northumberland Strait and opportunities to spot local wildlife, including eagles, hawks, and various waterfowl that frequent the coastline.

The Park is 25.57 hectares in size, and was formally designated as a provincial park on December 19, 1974, by Order in Council 74‑1375.

Along the shore of Little Harbour by Marie Cullen, Shirley Aikens, & Margaret Forbes, is a great resource for stories and history of Little Harbour and surroundings area (Anderson Mountain, Black Point, Boat Harbour, Chance Harbour, Kings Head, Little Harbour and Woodburn).
It provides details about many of the families that first settled the area, businesses, industry, hard ships, churches, schools, fire stations, and more. This book is now available to read online.
