About Powells Cove
Powells Cove is a small, sheltered inlet tucked along the shoreline in the community of Little Harbour, a place where forest, salt air, and quiet water meet in a way that feels distinctly Northumberland Shore.
Though less famous than nearby beaches like Melmerby, the cove has its own understated charm: a blend of wooded trails, tidal shoreline, and the soft, warm light that defines this part of Nova Scotia. On calm days, the water sits almost glassy, reflecting the sky and the dark spruce that line the shore.

Along the shore of Little Harbour by Marie Cullen, Shirley Aikens, & Margaret Forbes, is a great resource for stories and history of Little Harbour and surroundings area (Anderson Mountain, Black Point, Boat Harbour, Chance Harbour, Kings Head, Little Harbour and Woodburn).
It provides details about many of the families that first settled the area, businesses, industry, hard ships, churches, schools, fire stations, and more. This book is now available to read online.
