in Woodland Area, Pictou County Place Names

Indian Lake is a quiet forest‑lined rural Woodland Area characterized by forests and natural vegetation located south of Marshy Hope. The region is lightly settled with scattered homes, camps, and properties, road‑accessible, and shaped by the long history of forestry, homesteading, and inland travel routes that define much of central Pictou County. Twinning of the Trans Canada Highway in 2024 diverted part of the the original highway configuration to avoid the Marshy Hope area and now passes through part of Indian Lake.
