A Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is land designated for the conservation, management, and enhancement of wildlife and their habitats. WMAs sometimes may allow regulated hunting, trapping, or other compatible uses, but their primary purpose is biodiversity conservation.
They are part of a broader protected areas network that the Province of Nova Scotia maintains to conserve wildlife, habitats, and ecosystem services such as clean water and carbon storage.
