Sawmill Brook Conservation Lands is a protected nature reserve and conservation area located along the Sawmill Brook in the community of Hardwood Hill. It is a relatively small area consisting of forested slope and an alluvial floodplain provide a critical habitat buffer.
Lighthouse Beach Nature Reserve is a provincially recognized protected area located at the head of Pictou Harbour, in the community of Pictou Landing. The reserve protects a small but ecologically important section of coastal shoreline, beach habitat, and vegetation, forming part of the broader natural system that surrounds the inner harbour.
Caribou Rivers Nature Reserve is a 32‑hectare protected area in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, located where the Big and Little Caribou Rivers meet the Northumberland Strait. Dalhousie Mountain Nature Reserve, located in the community of Mount Thom, was designated as a Conservation Area by the Province of Nova Scotia in 2015. It is a 46‑hectare protected area that preserves rich mixed‑wood forest and several rare plant species, including round‑leaved hepatica, a woodland herb found in only a handful of Nova Scotia locations.
Abercrombie Wildlife Management Area is protected wildlife management area located in the community of Abercrombie, designated in 1977 to preserve local forest, wetland, and coastal habitat and to support recreation and education.
