About Moose River
Moose River is a rural community located along NS Route 347 (Sherbrooke Road) north east of Blue Mountain and north west of Garden of Eden. The name is descriptive.
Thomas Fraser appears to have been the first settler here in 1818. Donald Campbell emigrated from Inverness-shire, in 1821, petitioned for land in 1822, and received his grant in 1828. John Munro and John Austen received grants here m 1828 and Donald Munro received a license to settle in 1831. His grant of land was made in 1835.
Population in 1956 was 52.
