Meadowville is a rural area located west of Beech Hill.. The name is descriptive. Thomas Harris, one of the proprietors of the Philadelphia Grant, obtained land here soon after 1767.
He sold the land to Matthew Harris, who sold it to Mary Lindsey in 1793. She settled on it, built a house, and cleared land with the help of Robert Patterson whom she married after 1792. The Philadelphia Grant was escheated in 1809 and part or all of this lot was regranted to George McConnell in 1811.
He ejected the Pattersons in the summer of 1810 and they received a grant at Poplar Hill in 1817. By April, 1817, McConnell, one of the first settlers of Pictou, had two houses and twentyfive acres cleared on this lot. William McGowan, an Irishman emigrated in 1817 or 1818 and was settled here by October, 1820. Robert McConnell, one of the four sons of George McConnell and a native of Pictou settled here before August. 1821.
The short railway line was built about 1888.
Population 1956 was 112.
