About Mackenzie Point

Mackenzie Point is a small headland located along the south side of Caribou Island near Hansons Cove, extending out into Caribou Harbour. Several Mackenzie families  held land grants in this area.

The 1879 map has this area labeled as Red Point, however the 1964 map has Mackenzie Point, so it is more then likely a cartographic error.

A Point is a land feature that extends into a body of water, typically smaller and less prominent extension of land compared to a cape . Sometimes used interchangeably with “headland,” but it generally implies a smaller and less significant coastal projection.
