A Spit is considered to be a depositional coastal landform created by longshore drift, that extends out from the mainland into a water body, often with a curved end and salt marshes behind it.

About Little Caribou Spit

Little Caribou Spit is a small sandy strip of land located along the south side of Munroes Island, that separates Caribou Harbour from the Northumberland Strait. It is a home for many species of Shorebirds, and located within Caribou-Munroes Island Provincial Park.

Also an amazing summer spot to watch the size rise up over the Atlantic!
