About Limerock
Limerock is a rural community located along the West River, between Greenhill and Salt Springs. The name was to the area after the presence of large deposits of limestone was discovered there.
Donald McLeod and his father came to the province about 1806, took possession of 400 acres of vacant land and by 1808, had built two houses and two barns and cleared about eleven acres.
Farms and Farmers of Pictou County is a collection of articles written by by R. H. Ward between 1919 and 1922 that showcases some of the many farms and farmers in Limerock during 1914-1922.
A stone house built on the Limerock road by David Fairweather in 1834 was still standing and in use in 1953.
