Laggan, Pictou County

The rural community of Laggan is located south of Upper Barneys River. It was named after Laggan, Invernessshire Scotland. William Brown of Remsheg (Wallace) petitioned for land in 1821 and received a grant here in 1827. In 1828 grants of land were made to Archibald McDonald and Archibald Stewart.

A school-house was built here before 1875.

Population in 1956 was 80.
