About Indian Island
Indian Island is a small coastal island located in Merigomish Harbour, just south east of Quarry Island.
It is part of the two islands included in Merigomish Harbour Indian Reserve 31 (part of the Pictou Landing First Nation) established in 1865.
The plan T1195 CLSR / NS31 (1899) has the island labeled as Chapel Island, although maps before and after this date have used Indian Island.
Saint Anne’s Mission Church built in 1897 is located on Indian Island, as well as several seasonal dwellings and cottages.
