About Glencoe
It is a rural community in Pictou County located on the upper East River between the communities of St.Pauls and Sunny Brae. It was named after a small valley in Argyleshire, Scotland where a number of Scots were massacred.
The original school house was burned in 1874 and replaced with a new one in 1875. The replacement school burnt down in 1909, and replaced by a new one. This school was also burned in 1938.
The building that replaced that school still exists but is now used as the Glencoe Community Centre (and available to the public to rent for private events).
Farming has been the basic industry in this area for hundreds of years.
Glencoe Falls is a small waterfall that can be found along the Glencoe brook about half an hour hike from the trailhead (Find a video of the Falls further down this page).
Details about hiking to the falls see https://trailpeak.com/trails/Glencoe-Falls-near-New-Glasgow-NS-11268
