About Garden of Eden
Garden of Eden is a rural community located north of Eden Lake. It was named after William McDonald, who settled here in 1830, and was known as “Adam of the Garden” because he was the first man there.
Along with William McDonald, was his sons, John, Alexander and George, and a son in-law, William Miller. A small log hut was erected here by the
Surveyor-General for the accommodation of travelers and on a site that a Church was built on later.
A school-house was built in 1919-1920, and a A postal way office was established in 1848.
Population in 1956 was 59.
