Topographic Maps and Data
The Surveyor General Branch (SGB) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) provides large scale mapping of Canada Lands located throughout Atlantic Canada.
NRCan provides both maps and geospatial data containing topographic information that utilities, land cover, occupational limits and administrative boundaries, contours, hydrography, buildings and transportation features. The mapping information is derived from high resolution aerial photography and made available through the Canada Open Government License.
Orthophotography created from orthorectified high resolution imagery collected in 2017 is also available.
The maps and geospatial data sets were created, in collaboration with Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), as part of the Mapping programs on Indian reserves of Atlantic.
Fisher’s Grant Indian Reservation No. 24 in Pictou Landing falls under Canada Lands jurisdiction (most other Canada Lands in Nova Scotia are also available), therefore both maps, geospatial data and orthophotography area freely available for this area from the Natural Resources Canada website. They also provide a cadastral version of the same area which includes the topographic data with surveyed parcel fabric data.
Maps are provided in digital PDF formats (at 1:2000 scale) , the geospatial data is available in both ESRI file geodatabase (GeoDB_File) and DXF formats for CAD software, and the orthophotography is provided in digital PDF formats and ECW (Enhanced Compression Wavelet) format.
