Pictou County Maps: Fisher’s Grant Topographic Map
The main Reserve of Pictou Landing First Nation is Fisher’s Grant IR 24, a residential area situated between Boat Harbour and the Northumberland Strait. It is home to families, community facilities, and cultural spaces. The name “Fisher’s Grant” comes from an early land grant made to John Fisher in 1765, which later became associated with the Mi’kmaq settlement.
The Surveyor General Branch (SGB) of Natural Resources Canada provides large scale mapping of Canada Lands located throughout Atlantic Canada. Fisher’s Grant Indian Reservation No. 24 in Pictou Landing falls under Canada Lands jurisdiction.
They provide both maps and geospatial data containing topographic information that utilities, land cover, occupational limits and administrative boundaries, contours, hydrography, buildings and transportation features. The mapping information is derived from high resolution aerial photography and made available through the Canada Open Government License. Other Canada Lands in Nova Scotia are also available from the Natural Resources Canada website.
