Black Brook is a rural community located near the north end of Black Lake in the Keppoch area (east side of Pictou County).
Similar to the Lake with the same name, the name likely originates from the dark coloration of the water, caused by tannins and organic matter from decaying vegetation—a common trait in Nova Scotia’s lakes and brooks.
