About Big Cove

Big Cove located in the community of Sutherlands River, is a small sheltered coastal feature that opens up into the south shores of Merigomish Harbour.

The harbour itself is a drowned river type estuary, protected by barrier islands and spits, which creates a calm marine environment ideal for small coves like Big Cove. It’s sheltered position would have made it a useful landmark for small‑boat travel within the harbour.
