About Aulds Mountain
Aulds Mountain is located north of the Trans Canada Highway with a spatial extent spread across the communities of Avondale, Piedmont, Kenzieville, and Broadway
The terrain in this area is characterized by rolling hills, mix of hardwood and softwood forested landscape, and is part of the broader Appalachian Mountain Range that covers much of northern Nova Scotia.
While “Auld” is a common Scottish word meaning “old”, the plural form “Aulds” is typically a surname that was derived from various place names in the borderlands between Scotland and England.
Aulds is the most prominent mountain (186 m /610 ft) with an elevation of 295 m / 968 ft above sea level (ASL), making it the 4th highest peak in Pictou County.
