About Archibalds Point
Archibalds Point a scenic point or cape located between Reef Point and Salisbury Point along the shores of John Bay in the community of Cape John.
The point was previously known as Sandies Point until an official name change in 1976, and the water between here and Reef Point was previously named Hithon Bight until 1976.
This region was originally referred to as Back Shore due to its geographic location in relation to the village of River John, and also Wenjooteamwakade (meaning the cow pasture) by the Mi’kmaq.
