1889 New Glasgow Map
Today, we want to share a beutiful Bird’s-eye view 1889 New Glasgow Map, created by Duncan D Currie.
Historical Maps are a great resource to help learn geography at a particular point in time. They can be used to locate exactly where someone’s ancestors lived, as well as the layout of neighborhood and surrounding areas.
The 1889 New Glasgow map provides a unique panoramic view in an eastward direction looking across the East River towards the downtown area from the West side of town.
The map also contains several small detailed sketches of various different local landmarks such as the Albion Mine and the Acadia Foundry. It also contains smaller brief bird’s eye views of surrounding towns like Stellarton, Westville, Trenton & Antigonish.
The high resolution version loos pretty sharp when you print it on a large format printer (places like Eastern Sign Print can do this for you, if you do not have access to a cartographic printer) and have it framed.
