The image above is a detailed sketch of the Town of Pictou, Pictou County in 1864. It was one of the detailed map insets included on the much larger 1864 Pictou County Topographical Township Map by Ambrose F. Church (shown further below).
On the larger original map you can also find a directory prominent community members (clergy, blacksmiths, farmers, merchants, etc. ) from that time period for this map detail. On the full resolution copy, you can zoom into the details and read the print (see details about full resolution image below).
Above is a low resolution scan of the 1864 Pictou County Topographical Township Map, the Pictou – Antigonish Regional Library provides a higher resolution image that you can zoom into, to see the various details located on the map.
